Will it hurt? Yes. But only for a little in the beginning.
Each spike responds to tension in your body, so more tension = more sensation. The initial “Ouch!” you feel activates your body’s pain response and tells it to send happiness hormones and pain-relief chemicals to the area you’re targeting. If those spikes aren’t sharp enough – or you’re beyond relaxed already – you won’t feel much.
After a few minutes, the tingling sensation fades into a deep, relaxing warmth. The redness is purely a circulation boost. You might even fall asleep.

I’ve been using my Shakti Mat every day for at least 20 minutes before bed, and it’s become one of my favourite parts of my evening routine. I originally ordered the Level 2 mat, thinking I’d be able to handle it, but it turned out to be a bit too intense for me. Exchanging it for a Level 1 was completely hassle-free. The customer service was excellent, and the refund, delivery, and replacement order were all handled smoothly and efficiently.
I chose the Premium Shakti Mat, and the quality is outstanding!!You can immediately tell it’s made from premium materials. It’s pleasantly weighty, which helps it stay in place beautifully on my bed and pillow without shifting around. The craftsmanship feels luxurious and durable.
The spikes are definitely sharper than other acupressure mats I’ve tried, but that’s part of what makes it so effective.. For anyone new to Shakti Mats, I’d highly recommend starting with Level 1. It provides all the benefits without being overwhelming. 🫶

I used a Shakti mat a couple years ago whilst on holiday, I found that one incredibly easy to get down and actually enjoyed the experience. I know, weird.
However, I’ve not really had the same luck with my new mat, which is the same level one as the holiday mat.
I’ve struggled to stay down on it for more than a minute, so much to say that I had to check I’d ordered the right level (ie, 1 not a 3).
That said, I can get down on it with a T-shirt and I’m hopeful that by staying consistent I’ll be able to remove that in the very future! I love it. I love what it can bring & the logic behind it, so yeah, can’t wait!

I was sceptical as first.
Then the first time of lowering myself into the mat I questioned my sanity. I bought level 1. The shakti meditation sessions are perfect! It took about 10 or 15 minutes for the discomfort to reduce to a burning sensation, but tolerable. Some days are better than others, I do it every day. Some days I must have more tension. But once I release and let go its bliss. When the session is over, (around 20 minutes) I often just stay there, today I began to doze off! I love this mat. My friends and sister have since bought one.
